HOW TO AVOID BIASED IT RECOMENDATIONS

IT professionals should be considered trusted advisors as they are critical to helping companies build and maintain the right IT infrastructure. The problem is that many IT service providers resell products and services, and technicians have sales quotas or receive commissions on what they sell. This can create biased recommendations and breach trust in two ways:

1) Limited Options

IT services providers that resell services or products look primarily to the options they resell to meet your needs. It’s like going into the Apple store looking for a computer. Most likely they are only going to offer you Apple solutions, even if a Windows solution is better for your needs.

2) Not a Trusted Advisor

IT infrastructure is critical to most businesses, and because most business executives do not have a good grasp on IT, they want an advisor they can trust. However, if they have an incentive to sell you more equipment and software, they become a sales person rather than a trusted advisor.

Getting Unbiased IT Recommendations

At Skyriver IT, we do not resell any products or services, because we want to be trusted advisors to our clients without conflicting incentives. Our goal is to help businesses use IT more effectively and meet their business goals. If you would like to get unbiased IT recommendations, please contact us.
