Many companies are unhappy with their current IT solution, but they stick with their current situation nonetheless. Why? They expect that switching is hard and unlikely to make a big difference.

That does not need to be the case. Here are 3 common myths about switching IT service providers:

1) Switching is disruptive and time consuming

If the IT service provider has a good onboarding process, then the transition process goes quickly and smoothly. They map out your network, servers and workstations, and user access, so they fully understand your IT infrastructure. If done properly, your new provider often has a better understanding  and documentation of your IT infrastructure than your previous provider.

2) Unless it is not working, IT does not have a big impact on my business

Business leaders in many organizations spend a lot of time dealing with IT issues. When you have an effective and proactive IT team that takes the IT concerns off your plate, you can stay focused on what you do best. Plus, a supportive IT environment can positively impact your culture.

3) Switching providers is not going to improve service

While far too many IT service providers do not focus on good service, some do. So with a little due diligence, you can find a provider that meets your needs. Speak to current clients, meet at least one technician (not just the salesperson), and understand their onboarding process. And above all, trust your gut. If it does not feel like a good fit, then look elsewhere for a new IT service provider.

So, don’t put up with mediocre or poor IT support. It is too important for your organization. And, it does not have to be hard to switch IT service providers.
