When you walk into a Verizon store and ask about whether you should choose Verizon or Sprint, do you expect to get unbiased information? No, you get a sales pitch because the person you are speaking with has a sales quota and gets paid a commission on sales.
Then should you trust an IT professional who also has a sales quota and makes a commission on what they sell? Many IT service providers resell products and services. And, their technicians have sales quotas or receive commissions on sales. So, this can create two different problems:
1) Suboptimal Solutions
If an IT professional resells a product or service, they are going to look primarily to that option to meet your needs. So, even if there is a type of hardware or software that is a better fit, they are more likely to sell you what they make a commission on.
